An Animal Rising campaigner was sentenced at Worcester Crown Court today for actions taken during the group’s 2022 blockades of Müller distribution centres.

The defendant was sentenced today [17/04/25] to 100 hours of unpaid work to be completed over 18 months, ordered to pay £300 in court costs alongside a victim surcharge of £140 for one charge of “conspiracy to commit criminal damage.”
They were sentenced at Worcester Crown Court on 19/12/24 after taking part in Animal Rising’s “Stop the Supply” Dairy Campaign in September 2022, in which Müller’s Droitwich site was blockaded by protestors [1].
The protest was part of two weeks of nationwide protests by Animal Rising which saw dairy trucks immobilised and milk shortages across supermarket shelves [2] [3].
Claudia Penna Rojas, Animal Rising spokesperson, said:
“In 2022, over one hundred people stood against the harmful animal agriculture industry that pollutes our air, water, habitats, and biodiversity. The dairy industry is responsible for the deaths of over two million cows each year, and contributes to the ongoing climate and ecological emergencies. Now, in 2025, the science has never been clearer. A kind and sustainable future is only possible if we transition to a plant-based food system for the sake of human, animal, and planetary health.”
A 2023 study by Oxford University, backed up other previous studies, showed that a plant-based diet has the lowest impact on the environment in all areas analysed, including emissions, land-use, water-use and biodiversity loss [4].
Animal Rising is a social movement to create a new relationship with all beings and give us a chance for a safe ecological future. The group primarily calls for the transition to a secure and sustainable plant-based food system, alongside a mass rewilding programme.
