Animal Rising Campaigners Plead Not Guilty to Dairy Criminal Damage Charges

Nine campaigners charged with conspiracy to commit criminal damage entered not guilty pleas at Wolverhampton Crown Court today (29/09/25). They took after taking part in Animal Rising’s “Stop the Supply” campaign in September 2022 that blockaded dairy giant Müller’s depot in Willenhall. [1]

  • Accused of causing up to £80 000 of criminal damage, their actions were part of a campaign that targeted dairy giants Müller, Arla, and Freshways dairy facilities, immobilising dairy trucks and leading to milk shortages across the nation. [2]

  • Animal Rising cited the harmful impact of animal agriculture on the climate crisis, as well as the inhumane treatment of cows in the dairy industry, as justification for their actions.

  • Two trials have been scheduled to take place at Wolverhampton Crown Court, starting 18/5/26 and 14/9/26.

  • 11 defendants were charged in total; one entered a guilty plea today, while another will attend court on 3/10/25.

Animal Rising supporters took action in 2022 to highlight the dairy industry and animal agriculture’s contribution to the ongoing climate and ecological crises. They were advocating for a plant-based food system in order to create a kind and sustainable future for both human and animal life.

A 2018 study from the University of Oxford revealed that 76% of global farmland could be freed-up by a transition to a plant-based food system [3]. This land could then be rewilded for mass carbon drawdown which will contribute to global cooling, and an increase in wildlife populations.
