Contract: Full-time, Permanent (upon successful completion of probation)
Pay Range: £29,000 to £37,000, dependent on location and experience

About Animal Rising
Animal Rising is a nonviolent, people-powered organisation working towards a sustainable future where humanity shares a positive relationship with animals and nature. In 2023 our intervention at the Grand National achieved nine front pages and hours of broadcast air-time. In 2024 we built a network of investigators who carried out the largest farm investigation the UK has ever seen, exposing the myth of welfarism at RSPCA Assured farms. Our latest campaign takes on the scale of factory farming itself. We work in an ethic of service. Roles are held loosely rather than defended, people are flexible about what they pick up, and when something big lands everyone digs in.
About the Campaign
Animal Rising is one of the most exciting animal freedom campaigns in the UK right now. We're building a mass movement to end factory farming by 2040 launched in September.
About the Role
We need someone in Mobilisation Support to get people involved in the campaign, keep them engaged and help them develop into organisers themselves. We base our approach heavily on Hahrie Han's book How Organizations Develop Activists.
Recruit volunteers, upskilling and empowering them to establish regional groups and become leaders.
Actually get to know people: what motivates them, what they're good at, what's stopping them from doing more
Support them on a pathway from "I came to one thing" to "I'm running a team", with concrete steps. Coach volunteers one-to-one. Spot leadership potential early, and put deliberate time into the people who have it
Plan and run regular actions (vigils, outreach days, poster runs) and make sure they're safe and well-organised
Hand over responsibility to volunteer leaders as they're ready, so local groups can eventually run without you
Support people through the harder parts of this work; vigils can be heavy going, and outreach means facing a lot of rejection
Keep track of what's working: volunteer numbers, retention, who's stepping up into leadership
Speak publicly at events and actions
Work with the rest of the campaigns team so what's happening on the ground actually feeds into campaign strategy, and vice versa

Willing to work long or irregular hours when the campaign needs it, including some weekends
Able to deal with rejection and keep going
Committed to ending factory farming and animal freedom more broadly
Desirable
Experience in mobilisation, organising or campaigning
A confident public speaker
Full UK driving licence
What We Offer
This is genuinely demanding work as campaigns don't run on office hours. There will be evenings, weekends, and last-minute travel - that's the nature of activism.
In return, we run on trust. We have an unlimited holiday policy which means no counting days, no tracking hours you've put in versus hours you've taken back. If you've had a heavy stretch, you can take the time off as needed. We also know "unlimited" only works if people actually use it, so we check in on that rather than just leaving it as a policy on paper.
